From puff-painting my kindergarten backpack all the way to planning + designing my wedding day, if there is something to know about me it's that I find joy in the effort + in the fruition of bringing my ideas to actuality.
So it's no surprise that I had been dreaming + drawing up my wedding ring ideas years before babers (my husband) even popped the question!
That being said, I still wanted the surprise of the engagement ring + proposal so I kept the engagement ring style a bit open for Gal's personal touch (spoiler: he did amazing).
The wedding band however, was thought through, drawn up + pretty much set in stone YEARS before Gal even considered dropping the knee! haha
LET'S TALK...
ENGAGEMENT RINGS
Knowing that I wanted a very busy wedding band, there was one main hint I dropped to Gal about how I saw my engagement ring looking... and it was with a thin, basic band.
I showed him an instagram page that was making engagement ring bands thinner than industry standard and I just fell in love!
I couldn't find any other jeweler that was producing such thin bands!
Luckily Gal's mom is a jeweler here in Cape Town, SA and she was willing to make anything happen!
WEDDING BAND
For the wedding band, I really wanted something unique + something that showcased multiple diamond cut styles. I have always loved emerald + baguette cuts so I knew I wanted at least one of them to be included in the style.
We went with a half decorated band for 3 reasons:
The sharp corners of each shape were scratching + catching on things. Removing it from the underneath reduced that dramatically.
The sharp corners also made the band uncomfortable for the neighboring fingers - so keeping the plain band half way around minimized the discomfort. * The ring does shift around at times which results in points 1 + 2 happening so I may add beads inside the band to help from the band twisting.
It made the ring much more affordable! WIN!
